Jiří Netík, born 9. 8. 1953 in Brno /Czech republic/, sculptor, woodcarver and restorer.

 

He works mainly with wood, sometimes combined with metal, glass (or founded objects). His creation reflect respect to the world and human deal likewise it can to be seen at medieval and barock artists´ work. The finest details (expressions of the faces, fabrics) give evidence of perfectly mastered craft. He likes to aim at a life of a human being in context of nature, history of a mankind and universe. Especially he inspects a man with his pains, searching for his identity, roots and his place on The Earth.

- studies and work: School of Chemistry, professional musician for 20 years, courses of drawings and workshops at a renowned restorer of medieval carvings in Brno (Czech republic)

- since 1988 a free-lance sculptor, woodcarver and restorer, external teacher of woodcarving and sculpting at the School of Arts and Crafts in Brno in Czech republic and at the Faculty of Architecture at University in Brno

- gives lectures of sculpting and wood carving for public since 1998

2011 - “Gemini“ - a gift of the South Moravian Region to Václav Klaus, president of the Czech republic

-“Annunciation“ - a gift of the Governor of the South Moravian region to the Pope Benedict XVI.during his visit in Vatican

2010 - “Audience at the Emperor´s“ - gift of the Association of Czech regions to Václav Klaus, president of the Czech republic 2009 - sculpture "St. Wenceslas" - a gift of the Region of South Moravia for Pope Benedict XVI. at his visit in Brno, Czech republic -"Nativity Scene" - personal gift for Pope Benedict XVI.during a personal meeting with him in Vatican

2007 - sculpture "Moravia" - a gift of the Region of South Moravia for Prince Alois of Liechtenstein

2005 -"Nativity Scene" in private collection of Cardinal priest of Cologne J. Meisner, Germany -"Ekumenia"

- a designed carving for art engraved glass for Lobmeyr company, Wien, Austria

-“Homage to Jewish Comunity of Slavonice“ - memorial bronze sculpture for the former Synagogue in Slavonice – Zlabings, Czech republic

2001 - "Dance of Life, Dance of Death" - a designed carving for art engraved glass for Lobmeyr company, Wien, Austria

- object "Castle of Soul" for the Carmelitan Cloister in the underground public place in Linz, Austria

1997-1998 - 25 above lifesize sculptures for a Nativity Scene for the Breclav church, Czech republic

1997 - concept and realization of woodcarving on a collection of hunting arms for Zbrojovka Brno company, Czech republic

1995 - sculpture "Moravia" - a gift for V.Havel - the Czech president - by the city of Brno in the Czech republic

- sculpture "Justice" - a gift of the city of Brno in the Czech republic to O.L.Scalfaro - president of Italia

-his sculptures are in some state and many private collections all over the world
